Oliver's Hostelry Bandung


Northern Bandung known for its cool weather, the highland with fresh air, cold water, and shady trees. This city is different than some other, special because of the creative people. Located not too far from Parahyangan University, the access is from Ciumbuleuit. Oliver's Hostelry is a new accommodation from Maja Group. Front look is dominated with brick wall and a touch of green. Far away from hostel with dormitory and shared bathroom, they have 18 rooms that each has different theme. Youthful, homy hostelry with a beautiful lobby.



Their insta-worth lobby is definitely a nice spot to take your next profile picture. Classic yet chic, wooden floor, the unusual stool was very eye-catching. Windows are wide open during the day, there's no reason to not sit there enjoying the breeze, with your company and a cup of tea or coffee. 



The Northern Sky is the favorite room, green bed sheet, comfy double bed, pretty painted wall, star gazing in room is possible. Again, it surprised me when I came to the bathroom, well-decorated with white and wood domination, clean towel, and toiletries are provided too. 



It will cost you around IDR 500k per night on weekday and IDR 550k for the weekend including breakfast for two. But you surely can get better deal by making in advance booking through online travel agency, such as Agoda. My last checking was around IDR 350k. Big hotels commonly serve all you can eat breakfast, while here you can get cereals with milk or typical Indonesian breakfast, fried rice with fried egg. Coffee, tea, and fruits were included. How they prepare breakfast was very special to me, pretty attractive using big wooden tray. It is possible to enjoy your cute breakfast in room or at the lobby, I find their outdoor seating is perfect for morning scene.



An alternative if you feel bored staying at a "common" hotel. Definitely a recommended place for short getaway to Bandung. Beautiful, youthful, and homy. Friendly service, comfy room at affordable price. Home for the next trip in Bandung.

It's delicious but really I could not finish one portion, yes thank's to the amount of mayo. So, let's just share.  Mentai Rice , it's actually very easy to make as long as you have kitchen blow torch or use the oven to broil the mentaiko sauce. The sauce itself is made from mayonaise, preferably Japanese mayo like Kewpie and mentaiko (pollock roe / cod roe). If it's hard to find then simply replace it with tobiko (flying fish roe). Please do not skip the fish roe. Anyway, I bought the mentaiko from Tokopedia around IDR 270k for 500 grams, that's a lot, I know. Alternatively, take a look at Papaya Supermarket or other big supermarket as mentaiko is kinda hard to find here. I made 3 dishes with this Mentai sauce, the first one is the one with crabstick served with rice that mixed with nori powder, you can also use furikake. The second is nori rice with salmon aburi. Hidden Korean Street Food Place Jakarta

Sebenernya udah tau dari lama cuma baru minggu kesampaian ke K-Bunsik . Lokasinya bukan di pinggir jalan tapi ada di dalam supermarket Korea K-Mart di daerah Dharmawangsa. Gk ada petunjuk jelas untuk K-Bunsik tapi sudah banyak yang tau kok, pokonya langsung masuk ke dalam supermarket aja karena cuma satu lantai jadi pasti ketemu di pojok kiri.  Tempatnya terbilang kecil tetapi cukup bersih, kalau hari biasa bisa dine-in tapi untuk weekend dan hari libur mereka cuma terima take away aja. Kalau diartikan bunsik itu adalah makanan dengan terbuat dari tepung dan biasanya harganya terjangkau.  K-Mart Dharmawangsa K-Bunsik Menu yang ditawarkan adalah street food khas Korea, mulai dari tteokbokki , odeng , rapokki , gimbab , sampai bulgogi rice .  Kebanyakan menunya halal, walaupun ada menu non-halal gk perlu khawatir karena pembuatannya dipisah kok.
