Resep: Chicken Nanban with Tartar Sauce (Japanese Fried Chicken) Recipe

Image
Started few months ago when I saw a picture of Chicken Nanban on Instagram , then I tried to find out about how to make my own. This recipe is inspired by my favorite Cooking With Dog on Youtube, also Jun's Kitchen that cooks with his orange tabby cat, super attractive, and yes reminds me of Kimi my orange tabby!  So, it's actually a very easy dish, but you need to make your sweet sour nanban sauce ahead and of course the tartar sauce. To make nanban sauce, you probably need less vinegar if using regular white vinegar, if you're not consume alcohol then replace the mirin with water and add more sugar to taste. Ingredients:  300 gr chicken fillet 1 egg 1 clove garlic 150 gr flour or as needed salt and pepper to taste oil for frying Nanban Sauce: 60 ml mirin or water (add more sugar if needed) 60 ml rice vinegar 45 ml soy sauce or to taste 2 tbsp sugar Tartar Sauce: 1/2 cup Japanese mayonaise 1/2 minced onion (small), rinsed with cold water 1 hard boiled egg 2 tbsp minced pic

Attarine Jakarta by Potato Head Group (PTT Family)

Image
A new family member of Potato Head it's Attarine , located in prime location in South Jakarta, precisely in Gunawarman, few meters away before Sofia. The place is currently open only for dinner but soon they will open for all day dining. Quirky mini car in the middle of the restaurant, open kitchen, wood-fired oven, friendly waiters, so far so good, but let's talk more about the food. They're not specifically serving middle east food, but a twist by using spices that derives from what usually used in middle east cuisine. In common, they serve western food in unique way using local ingredients. From mocktails to cocktails, selected wine to coffee, you can find pretty much anything you want to drink here. I got Green Leaf -  IDR 50.000, yes my typical green juice, it has kale, celery, apple, cucumber, lime, and a pich of salt (yasss!!) fresh, no sugar, and just right to balance the meal. While Kevin got his Toasted Tommy's Margarita (IDR 125.000) Reposado tequila, agave

Travel: Trizara Resorts

Image
Have you experience camping? Some of you probably had the experience while in school. Sleeping in real tent, sleeping bag, camp fire. I was excited when I heard about this place, welcome to a newly opened resort in Lembang, it's Trizara Resort . Offering a different experience, glamping, a luxury camping with resort services, comfy bed, a great idea for a weekend getaway. Yes it's not just a camping site, but unlike any other resort, because here you'll sleep in a real tent. Anyway, they also have function room (I mean tent) for company gathering.  It took about a year to build this resort, team up with the locals, definitely an interesting story about this place. Based on simplicity, a peaceful place that blend harmoniously with its surrounding. Not only the nature but the people. Their staffs are the people from near by village, I believe it will bring positive impact for both sides. The Room You don't need to set up the tent, just check-in and check-out. There are fe

Asiatale Resto, Senopati - Jakarta

Image
Located in Senopati area that already packed with numerous restaurants, Asiatale Resto & Bar offers more than just a place to eat. They have modern Chinese interior, live music, drinks, spacious dining area, and of course good food. Unlike most the restaurants nearby, here, it's the place where you can enjoy hearty Chinese Food with your family or hangout with friends yes because they have lounge upstairs. The first question to answer, do they serve pork? NO! No Pork No Lard. Because, it's in the south? I don't think so, it's because there are good Chinese Food for everyone. But if you're a bit skeptic about this place as they're not serving pork and not using lard, throw away the thoughts, I will share some of the dishes. Started with Asiatale Selat Popiah , stir-fried glass noodle and chopped veggies inside crispy shell, followed by the Five Spice Binjai Chicken . The popiah was good but to oily to my liking, while the chicken was tasty, deep dried, salt

When it comes to dining at a luxurious hotel, buffet restaurant is probably the most popular. Once I came to Mandarin Oriental Jakarta when about applying for Schengen Visa as the hotel is located just beside the German Embassy. I've heard (a lot) that they are known for their cakes collection, also they're the first that introduced Cronuts in Jakarta, and it is still a hunt for the certain citizens. A hybrid of croissant and doughnut, found by Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City. Well here, The Cake Shop, one of the finest dessert destination in Jakarta, offers more than cronuts, to mention, chocolate pralines, assorted truffles, macarons, individual and whole cakes with very interesting creations. The New Spring / Summer cake collection from Mandarin Oriental Jakarta presented by the new Executive Pastry Chef Remi Martinazzo , with more than 18 years experience in various patisseries around France and he's also been to Sketch, London a 2-star Michelin restaurant.
