Resep: Chicken Nanban with Tartar Sauce (Japanese Fried Chicken) Recipe

Image
Started few months ago when I saw a picture of Chicken Nanban on Instagram , then I tried to find out about how to make my own. This recipe is inspired by my favorite Cooking With Dog on Youtube, also Jun's Kitchen that cooks with his orange tabby cat, super attractive, and yes reminds me of Kimi my orange tabby!  So, it's actually a very easy dish, but you need to make your sweet sour nanban sauce ahead and of course the tartar sauce. To make nanban sauce, you probably need less vinegar if using regular white vinegar, if you're not consume alcohol then replace the mirin with water and add more sugar to taste. Ingredients:  300 gr chicken fillet 1 egg 1 clove garlic 150 gr flour or as needed salt and pepper to taste oil for frying Nanban Sauce: 60 ml mirin or water (add more sugar if needed) 60 ml rice vinegar 45 ml soy sauce or to taste 2 tbsp sugar Tartar Sauce: 1/2 cup Japanese mayonaise 1/2 minced onion (small), rinsed with cold water 1 hard boiled egg 2 tbsp minced pic

Mie Naripan 127: Best Yamin Noodle in Bandung

Image
A humble place to eat yamin noodle and Chinese Food in Bandung, generous portion, various side dishes, and lots of condiments.

Asiatale Resto, Senopati - Jakarta

Image
Located in Senopati area that already packed with numerous restaurants, Asiatale Resto & Bar offers more than just a place to eat. They have modern Chinese interior, live music, drinks, spacious dining area, and of course good food. Unlike most the restaurants nearby, here, it's the place where you can enjoy hearty Chinese Food with your family or hangout with friends yes because they have lounge upstairs. The first question to answer, do they serve pork? NO! No Pork No Lard. Because, it's in the south? I don't think so, it's because there are good Chinese Food for everyone. But if you're a bit skeptic about this place as they're not serving pork and not using lard, throw away the thoughts, I will share some of the dishes. Started with Asiatale Selat Popiah , stir-fried glass noodle and chopped veggies inside crispy shell, followed by the Five Spice Binjai Chicken . The popiah was good but to oily to my liking, while the chicken was tasty, deep dried, salt

Celebrate Chinese New Year 2016 at Shang Palace, Shangri-la Hotel Jakarta

Image
Welcoming the year of Monkey with early Chinese New Year lunch at Shang Palace , Shangri-la Hotel Jakarta . How does it relate, celebrating Chinese New Year, it's a special occasion for Chinese, the certain time when the whole family come together, sit and savor good foods. Saying it's too early but I'd like to share with you these particular dishes to celebrate Chinese New Year. Started my lunch with something fresh, thirst quencher, Lychee Tea . It was exactly my fifth iced Lychee Tea for the whole week. Unlike the usual, as frequently stick to water or unsweetened tea.  Shall we start with Deep Fried Prawn ? Coated with mayonaise, and accompanied fried prawn ball with foie gras . Prawn mayo was nice, juicy yet not mushy, but mayo was too sweet for my liking. One bite of prawn with a piece of strawberry was outrageously delectable, yes the mouthwatering one. For the choice of poultry, Crispy Chicken with Mango in Spicy Sauce . Salty savoury chicken combined with tangy and

OpenSnap - Paduan Restoran: Start Your Food Journey!

Mungkin ada hanya sedikit yang tau atau malah masing asing dengan OpenSnap ? Lain halnya dengan OpenRice yang sudah banyak dikenal sebelumnya, actually   OpenSnap is the new OpenRice .

Porkytiam - Jakarta: It's All About Pork

Image
North Jakarta is filled with places serving Chinese Food, you can easily find pork dishes here. Here's a new comer, Porkytiam. Not a restaurant but, a humble eatery around the neighborhood. Not a huge fan of pork, but lately I've been eating like in many different places. It's getting easier to find, even in shopping malls, unlike few years ago that it can only be found in Chinatown district and Lapo. Sate Babi Rempah Daging  (IDR 35.000) well-marinated, slightly sweet, topped with fried shallot.  Sate Babi Kecap Samcan (IDR 45.000) each portion of satay consists of 10 skewers, but it is possible to order half. The guilt feeling when eating this fatty satay, one is more than enough for me. When it comes to satay I prefer leaner meat. Iga Goreng (IDR 48.000) served with green chili sambal , it was not super tender but still chew-able. The mild spices, crispy edges, if only a little more tender. Nasi Khas Porkytiam (IDR 36.000) steamed white rice, topped with sauteed ground

The Brunch Club at Potato Head Pacific Place Jakarta

Image
What's the best thing to do in weekend? We, Asian do love having noodles in Sunday morning but there's a time for a luscious Egg Benedict don't you think so? Last weekend, I spent my Sunday noon at Potato Head Jakarta to try their special brunch menu that is available only on Saturday - Sunday and public holiday 11 am to 3 pm. OK if you're reading my writing on social media or here for quite a while, you may notice that ya most of the time I eat fruits for breakfast. Trying to keep fit because most of the time I went voracious when eating my lunch. But brunch should be just enough to fulfill hunger and pamper taste buds. Started with  Ricotta Salad (IDR 130.000), homemade ricotta flavoured with basil served with semi-dried tomato confit, local organic romaine lettuce and cheese croutons. Looks pretty appealing yet super tasty, mild cheesy taste just perfect with sweet semi-dried tomato.  Potato 'En Cocotte' (IDR 100.000) baked egg and mashed potato, served wit
