Resep: Cheesy Creamed Spinach Recipe

Image
You surely can use spinach, but I prefer horenso. Classic creamed spinach goes well with steak, grilled chicken, or even pasta. Some people do it with cream, I use milk instead because I added some cheese. Cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan, my classic combination, no doubt. For me,  Mimolette cheese also works well with the spinach but it's very hard to find here in Jakarta, anyway a couple table spoon of cream cheese can be added for even creamier spinach. If using horenso, you surely can remove the stalk but I like to use both the stalks and leaves though you need to squeeze the blanched spinach really well to remove the excess water. Ingredients : 4-5 bunch of horenso / spinach 2 tbsp butter 1 clove minced garlic 2 tbsp minced onion 1 tbsp all purpose flour 1 cup milk 1 cup cheese (combination of mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, cream cheese, or any of your preference) salt to taste a pinch of grated nutmeg (optional) water as needed ice as needed Directions : Blanch: put horenso

Resep: Easy Croque Monsieur Recipe

Image
Sounds fancy as it's French, Croque Monsieur , a typical sandwich from France along with Croque Madam (with fried egg). I used white bread because that's all I have in hand. What makes it different from regular sandwich is the sauce, white sauce made with butter flour mixture ( roux ) and milk. I found that some also use cheese sauce to replace the bechamel . Lately, it can be found easily at not only in restaurants but also at some coffee shops here in Jakarta. The most necessary, cheese, to me it's not a sandwich without cheese.  Emmental and  Gruyere is the most common, but feel free to add your favorite. I did not have   both so I used  Butterkäse , soft cheese with buttery flavor, very popular in Germany, too bad I can't find it here in Indonesia. My sister brought me some, well to me it's precious hehe.. It's great for sandwich with stringy melting effect like mozzarella but better.  Ingredients : 2 slices bread of your choice, buttered the outter side 2

Food Trip: The Roti Prata House Singapore

Image
Indian food can be pricey here in Indonesia as it is usually can be found in specialty restaurant but in Singapore (also Malaysia) it's everywhere. Also, finding late night meals in Jakarta is much easier than in Singapore but this place saved us, The Roti Prata House . It was very late and we're super hungry, my first choice was  Maggi Goreng (SGD 3.50), instant noodle that is popular in Malaysia and Singapore but they cooked it again along with some veggies and spices to enhance the flavor. To fulfill the hunger, Masala Chicken Briyani  (SGD 5.50) was quite satisfying, fragrant rice combined with super tender chicken in rich and spicy sauce. More protein from  Crispy Fried Chicken (SGD 4.50) I've always been a fan of this kind of fried chicken, typical Singapore-Malaysian ayam goreng , juicy and tender meat with light crispy batter on the outside. Prata Banana (SGD 3), Corn (SGD 2.50), Durian (SGD 3.50). Crispy Prata filled with various filling such as cheese, choco

German Christmas Tradition: Stollen Bread Making at Marche Indonesia

Image
My first Marche experience is when I was in Germany, one to remember they have delicious pretzel. Here in Jakarta they have 2 outlets, at Plaza Senayan and in the center of Jakarta at Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall. If I may ask, what's your favorite from Marche? Will you agree me if I say R östi ? Marche have amazing  R östi, a very simple hearty dish but yet delightful. A Swiss dish made from grated potatoes as the main ingredients, some other ingredients may included such as cheese and wurst . Moreover, they also offer wide range of veggies to choose from the salad bar, of course with various dressing options. But personally, I prefer their Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. Well, it's getting closer to Christmas, a special thing from Marche, I got a chance to see the Stollen Bread Making. Stollen Bread is popular in Germany that is usually made before Christmas. To experience the making of Stollen Bread , it was fun and of course the best part was the tasting session. Unlike mo

Resep: Delightful Toast (Sweet Buttery Baguette with Strawberries and Feta)

Image
I have no idea about the title, but when I made this delightful dish. Crispy chewy toasted baguette, fresh strawberries, and feta cheese. What I want to bring out is the simplicity, using very few ingredients. You can use any of your favorite bread, that's the only thing to customize, also please use real butter not margarine because it's not the same. Some ingredients you'll need to make this delightful toast: bread of your choice, sliced, I used baguette butter sugar, better if you can get coconut sugar vanilla extract fresh strawberries, sliced feta cheese Mix 1:1 ratio of butter and sugar, spread onto your bread. On medium low heat, cook both side. Serve it with fresh strawberries and feta. Sweet savory sour and salty, party in mouth sensation. It's great for breakfast or brunch but as most of the time I eat fruits for breakfast, this is just nice for afternoon snack. Well, I think it will be great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Resep: Pull Apart Garlic Cheese Bread Recipe

Image
Pull Apart Garlic Cheese Bread I watched a lot of Buzz Feed Videos, honestly very inspiring. Else, Pinterest. I've been on Pinterest since like 4 years ago, definitely my favorite app. Learned a lot about cooking, also found super inspiring blog. I am not a super cook, I've never been in a cooking school. So, once a while I got a question  about my recipes, how did you get it? First, the inspiration. It was from Youtube, Pinterest, or any other social media. Also, I spent many times to eat from one place to another, from food stalls to restaurants. Street food is definitely very exciting. Visiting wet market is always on my to-do list. I always want to make conversation related to food. It can be from anywhere, and anyone. Travel, yes you need it. See the world, taste the local food. Second, get into the kitchen. I've tried it before, it could be once or something that I made many times. First attempt is usually works, get the feeling into it. But of course there were time
