LINE Friends Cafe & Store at Garosugil - Seoul, South Korea



LINE. It's amazing how an application for communications on for electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets can be this big. There are many but why LINE, they have cute characters and definitely became a brand. Asia is a very big market and yes Asians love cute things.

The Store

Who's your favorite LINE character? Mine? Of course it's Brown, well James is cute too. Brown the bear is the most popular, second is probably Cony. Here you can find all LINE character for real well at least you can touch it. When it's became a brand, they can sell pretty much anything. 


The store is big but not too spacious. Ground floor filled with stuffs such as stationery, accessories, dolls, Brown figures, so cute! While the cafe is on the basement level, apparel is on the upper ground. T-shirts are quite affordable, guess what? I saw some of T-Shirt labels and found out that it's made in Indonesia well not all, better be proud. 


You really do not want to miss this thing, taking pictures with LINE Character. The icon is a very big Brown just after the front door. All visitors wanted to take picture with big Brown, it took some time until my turn, so just make sure to get your camera ready.

Cafe 

From chocolate, cakes, macarons, to ice cream. Is it expensive? Well, Seoul is expensive but I think the pricing here is wise enough. Too cute to eat, or is it just cute by the appearance? You decide, to me I enjoyed their ice cream like nothing else.


There are 4 kinds to choose, Cony in cup or cone and Brown also in cup or cone. I had Cony cone and Brown in a cup. It was so good, smooth not so creamy ice cream, not too sweet, not milky, it's just right to my palate. Personally I like Brown better than Cony, in this case of ice cream. Softserve was the same but Brown has chocolate biscuit and the chocolate flakes. Light and crispy chocolate flakes, delightful! It costed me 3800 won for each. Whenever you're around Seoul, this place is definitely worth to visit, more over it's located at Garosugil (tree-lined street), the famous shopping street, lots of enticing things to shop around.

Take Subway to Sinsa Station (Line 3), exit 8. Walk straight then turn the left on Garosugil (tree-lined street) continue straight, the LINE Store & Cafe will be on your left.

It's delicious but really I could not finish one portion, yes thank's to the amount of mayo. So, let's just share.  Mentai Rice , it's actually very easy to make as long as you have kitchen blow torch or use the oven to broil the mentaiko sauce. The sauce itself is made from mayonaise, preferably Japanese mayo like Kewpie and mentaiko (pollock roe / cod roe). If it's hard to find then simply replace it with tobiko (flying fish roe). Please do not skip the fish roe. Anyway, I bought the mentaiko from Tokopedia around IDR 270k for 500 grams, that's a lot, I know. Alternatively, take a look at Papaya Supermarket or other big supermarket as mentaiko is kinda hard to find here. Hidden Korean Street Food Place Jakarta

Sebenernya udah tau dari lama cuma baru minggu kesampaian ke K-Bunsik . Lokasinya bukan di pinggir jalan tapi ada di dalam supermarket Korea K-Mart di daerah Dharmawangsa. Gk ada petunjuk jelas untuk K-Bunsik tapi sudah banyak yang tau kok, pokonya langsung masuk ke dalam supermarket aja karena cuma satu lantai jadi pasti ketemu di pojok kiri.  Tempatnya terbilang kecil tetapi cukup bersih, kalau hari biasa bisa dine-in tapi untuk weekend dan hari libur mereka cuma terima take away aja. Kalau diartikan bunsik itu adalah makanan dengan terbuat dari tepung dan biasanya harganya terjangkau.  K-Mart Dharmawangsa K-Bunsik Menu yang ditawarkan adalah street food khas Korea, mulai dari tteokbokki , odeng , rapokki , gimbab , sampai bulgogi rice .  Kebanyakan menunya halal, walaupun ada menu non-halal gk perlu khawatir karena pembuatannya dipisah kok.
