HONU Poke & Matcha Bar - Jakarta

Finally a special place for Poke in Jakarta, I think this is the start as Singapore already has several places for Poke. We're joining the hype. Poke is a typical Hawaiian dish, made from marinated (commonly) raw fish, tuna is the most popular, while vegetarian Poke is made using tofu. It goes well with salad or the famous one, with rice known as Poke Bowl. I've never had many Poke Bowl in my life but yes I've tried some and I've made it couple times. Aloha Poke in Singapore is one of them, go check out my previous post here, they have amazing Poke. To describe, Poke is simply a raw fish salad.

HONU is located in Kemang, the place was quite nice, not too spacious but clean and simple. Combining Poke and Matcha, very interesting. Not many to offer on the menu, there are two options, regular and small size for the Poke Bowl.

We decided to order The Skinny (IDR 50.000 / small), tuna with shoyu, salad, edamame, cucumber, seaweed, and pickled ginger, wise portion, it was yum with additional chili powder. Though I prefer the Two & Two (IDR 75.000 / regular) salmon, tuna, lettuce, wakame, carrot, and tempura crunch with creamy sauce. Meals was good but I expect more topping variation, probably some mango, avocado, or even pomegranate.

Their matcha was good, we got Iced Matcha Latte (IDR 35.000) and Opening Ceremony (IDR 40.000). Matcha Latte comes with two option, with milk or soy milk, while Opening Ceremony is a Bamboo whisked ceremonial grade matcha, served hot and unsweetened. Personally I like the Opening Ceremony better than the latte as it has stronger matcha taste, but I don't think it's made for everyone.

If you're into sushi-sashimi then you probably gonna like poke, not so many places in Jakarta that serve poke at the moment and HONU can be an option though my favorite poke experience so far is still Aloha Poke yes we need more Poke in Jakarta.
