Byron Selective - Bandung

It's been a while, I finally made it to update this blog again. Also beside sharing recipes, it's a resto review. I've been very busy lately, well actually for the past few months (read: almost a year). Allow me to share, so for the past few months we, me and my partner, we got lots of project that we feel blessed. There are still many waiting to be finished. We made video content for social media, mostly cooking video. Not an easy thing, we're still learning anyway but hey I think we really can make it better day by day. As it's getting organized, I hope I can have more time to write here, also to make my own content especially for my Youtube channel. This year is gonna be fabulous.

Byron Selective. This place, located in Progo, close to some other cafes and restos. Precisely, it's beside the famous Jonas Photo Studio, and there's a connection door in between. I think I saw some pictures on Instagram about this place then

Truffle Fries

So, the uppermost to order like in any cafe is Truffle Fries (IDR 35.000). It's served in a bowl, portion size just right, the fries coated in sort of Cajun seasoning, with a tiny hint of heat. For me personally, the aroma of truffle oil was just so addictive. Next, Truffle Cream Wild Mushroom (IDR 55.000) served with a piece of garlic toast, Fettucini in creamy sauce, parmesan, wild mushroom, horenso, topped with garlic chips. I find it slightly under-seasoned, not much, a tiny pinch of salt should be just enough. It's a good dish anyway, to be compared with the Chicken Pesto Pamrigiano (IDR 58.000) I prefer the fettucini, thanks to the fragrant truffle oil.

I went here with my parents, surely they prefer to have rice dishes, typical Asian palate? Honestly, it's getting easier these day as they travel once a while so they get used to with western cuisine. Good thing, Byron Selective also offers plenty of Asian inspired dishes packed in such an attractive way, just like this one we ordered, Beef Yakiniku (IDR 75.000) served with mixed veggies, sunny side up, and lots of potato chips.

Hands up if you're into waffles other than pancakes, both are nice but waffles... it's just always good, sweet or savory. Hungry Chicken Waffle (IDR 65.000) served with sunny side up, grilled watermelon, and mushroom sauce. I didn't expect to find this kind of dish here, I mean it's common for places in Jakarta but not in Bandung, but really it's a good thing. The waffle was light, crispy on the edges, moist and soft inside, savory crispy chicken with sweet maple syrup. Fried Chicken Waffle is typical American dish that suits me well, it's probably weird for some of us as waffle usually serves in a sweet way.

Moreover, they also have enticing cakes to try such as Putu Pisang Cake, Es Campur Cake, and Kastengel Cake. Beers are available and they also have High Tea from 2 to 5 pm.

We managed to order the Kolak Pisang Waffle to share which sounds delicious, but really I could not take anymore, maybe next time, yes I'd love to revisit Byron Selective.
