Resep: Nangka dan Pisang Goreng (Fried Jackfruit and Banana Fritters Recipe)

Image
One of the most famous Indonesian snack, Pisang Goreng or in English, Banana Fritters or Fried Bananas . If you can fine ripe jackfruit then it's great, my favorite, also pineapple! Definitely not healthy but really I just can't say no. This recipe that I modified from my mom, she usually puts some cold butter (or margarine) into the batter, it's her secret. Rice flour and baking powder are my key ingredients for making it light and crispy. Also, I made coconut milk sauce infused with pandan leaves, perfect companion for both banana and jackfruit fritters. You can use almost any kind of banana or even ripe plantain, I find pisang uli  (I don't know what's it in English) is best for banana fritters. Find out how to make it on my Youtube video and check out the measurement down below. Ingredients : 1 cup all purpose flour 2 tbsp rice flour 1 tbsp cold butter / margarine 1 tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt or to taste 1/2 tsp baking powder 250 ml cold water banana and ripe ja

Yasss finally a new KFC in Jakarta, I mean Korean Fried Chicken, it's Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory . From Korea to Singapore, now they're ready to serve you in Jakarta. Located at Ruko Garden House, Pantai Indah Kapuk, beside Mottomoo. If you noticed that on my list of 15 Must Eat Korean Food 2015 in Seoul, yes KFC is a must but even it's in Seoul, you definitely need to choose, OK, a reason to come back on 2k16. Meanwhile, I'm getting very excited about this place. Update: I've been here 3 times already :D Half Half Crispy Fried Chicken (IDR 149.000), it is possible to order different flavor but one must be the original, while you can choose the other between garlicky chicken or spicy chicken. I got the Original and Garlicky Chicken , crispy skin, super juicy meat, and the soy-garlic sauce was very tasty, salty savoury, finger licking good one! Mustard sauce was a bit strong for Indonesians as here we are most likely accustomed with American yellow mustard bu

Akira Back Jakarta: The Affordable Set Menu Offering - Starting IDR 180k ++

Image
Another Japanese food experience, Akira Back . To describe, their menus are quite unique as they present modern Japanese food, western inspired dishes but using ingredients that commonly used in Japanese cuisine with a twist of Korean, to me it's very interesting. Chef Akira Back is a Korean-born, and he used to be a professional snowboarder, more than enough to explain why menus here are quite unique and yass adventurous! Widely known as a Japanese fine dining restaurant, Akira Back Jakarta finally dilated to middle market with IDR 180k ++ set menu, including starter, main, and dessert. Starters There are four starters to choose, first it's Salmon Aburi with yuzu soy, topped with peppers and radish sprouts. Actually Salmon Aburi is my must order in Japanese restaurant but I went for the Kimchee-se Sliders, warm toasted bun, juicy short rib patty with mozzarella cheese, it was really tasty and portion was generous too, big enough for a slider, almost like a burger. Next, Hac

Asuka JW Marriott Jakarta: Japanese Fine Dining

Image
What makes Asuka so special? Located at the heart of Jakarta, more precisely at Lingkar Mega Kuningan, inside a luxury JW Marriott Hotel. They offer exquisite Japanese food experience, using premium ingredients that brought all the way from Japan, well-grounded chefs, I am more than excited to share my first impression for an Omakase dinner at Asuka. With good friend of mine Ellyna from  Culinary Bonanza  and Cherry, good companions completed the dining. The first dish was my first ever  Shirako , when I looked at the menu, I guessed, I've heard it before, it took few seconds until I realized that  shirako  is fish sperm. A Japanese delicacy, served with  kyuri  (cucumber), seaweed,  ponzu  sauce, topped with chives. The  shirako  was torched,  aburi -like, so technically it's raw, I was thinking it was too extreme for a first timer but seriously it was actually palatable, well of course, just a skeptical thought on my mind, it's fish sperm!! While it can be different with
