Resep: Cheese Tteokbokki Carbonara Recipe

Image
This is definitely not an authentic Korean dish, but let's say fusion. Inspired by places that serve cheese tteokbokki . I personally prefer the original tteokbokki with gochujang as the base for the sauce, but it's worth to try though. When it comes to white sauce and cheese, please use good cheese because it matters, try sharp cheddar, parmesan, swiss, emmental, and mozzarella for stringy texture on top. This weekend my sister brought me some  Butterkäse (my favorite cheese from Germany, along with Asiago cheese from Italy), so I used it instead of mozzarella. It's not that hard to find rice cakes ( garaetteok ) here in Jakarta, usually in Korean Grocery Stores, such as Mu Gung Hwa. I also found some at larger supermarket, Grand Lucky SCBD, even Lottemart in Gandaria City made the fresh one. Ingredients : 1 cup rice cakes / garaetteok 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 onion, sliced 1 tbsp all purpose flour 1 cup milk 1 beef / chicken hotdog, sliced 2-3 slices bacon  or beef ba

Resep: Hotteok 호떡 (Korean Filled Pancake) Recipe

Image
A flashback to Seoul, my lastest trip to South Korea was last year, read about my most viewed writing 15 Must Eat Korean Food Seoul   and the video Must Eat Korean Food in Seoul  on my Youtube channel. Hotteok ( 호떡 ) is generally sweet but I found the savory version filled with Japchae (stir-fried glass noodles with vegetables) at Namdaemun Market. The sweet Hotteok usually filled with brown sugar, sometimes sweetened red bean, but you can go with pretty much anything from nutella to cheese. I think it will work with cinnamon sugar too. This recipe is modified from Maangchi , yes my favorite Korean Youtuber. Anyway check out my Youtube for the video. Ingredients : 1 cup bread flour (high protein wheat flour) 1/2 cup luke warm water 1 tsp dry yeast 2 tbsp cooking oil 1 tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt sweetened red bean, as needed more flour for forming the dough oil for frying Watch the video for the directions Find me on: Youtube  and  Instagram   @heytheresia  for daily food and travel upd

Resep: Cottage Pie Recipe

Image
I personally really love this recipe, because it's potato, yes hands up if you're potato lovers. It's similar to Shepherd's Pie but using beef instead of lamb. You surely can add sausage, or maybe sweet corn, and I think some cheese between the layer would be great too. If you have leftover mashed potato then think about making this pie. For the mashed potato, I usually add a bit of butter, some milk, and cheese, for this recipe I used cheese spread. Ingredients : 300 gr ground beef 1/2 onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 tsp dried oregano 2 tbsp tomato sauce / ketchup 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce 2 tbsp oil 2 tbsp flour 2 tbsp sugar 1 cup mix vegetables water as needed salt and pepper to taste 3 cups mashed potato Watch the video for directions Find me on: Youtube  and  Instagram   @heytheresia  for daily food and travel updates

Attarine Jakarta by Potato Head Group (PTT Family)

Image
A new family member of Potato Head it's Attarine , located in prime location in South Jakarta, precisely in Gunawarman, few meters away before Sofia. The place is currently open only for dinner but soon they will open for all day dining. Quirky mini car in the middle of the restaurant, open kitchen, wood-fired oven, friendly waiters, so far so good, but let's talk more about the food. They're not specifically serving middle east food, but a twist by using spices that derives from what usually used in middle east cuisine. In common, they serve western food in unique way using local ingredients. From mocktails to cocktails, selected wine to coffee, you can find pretty much anything you want to drink here. I got Green Leaf -  IDR 50.000, yes my typical green juice, it has kale, celery, apple, cucumber, lime, and a pich of salt (yasss!!) fresh, no sugar, and just right to balance the meal. While Kevin got his Toasted Tommy's Margarita (IDR 125.000) Reposado tequila, agave

Resep: Japanese Curry Rice Recipe

Image
It's not that complicated to make your own Japanese Curry Rice, it goes well with chicken, katsu, prawn, or even hard boiled egg, but this version is using beef. I do recommend to use beef steak, premium one is better because you don't want tough meat in your curry.  What makes it different? Japanese Curry has brownish color to be compared with the Korean Curry which is yellowish and milder in taste. Golden Curry and Vermont are the most common brand for making Japanese Curry, usually they have 3 types, mild, medium, and hot. Personally I always go for the hot one. If you can't find curry block then you surely can make it using curry powder instead. But first make a roux (butter / oil + flour) to thicken the sauce, also add some soy sauce instead of salt to create the brown curry sauce. Ingredients : 1 onion, cut into cubes 1/2 cup sliced carrot (1.5 cm) 1 cup sliced potato (1.5-2 cm) 250 gr beef steak, cut into cubes (I used Sirloin, but feel free to use any of your fav cu

Sukiyaki At Shabu Shabu Gen - The Plaza Thamrin

Image
Indulgence your appetite with the new Sukiyaki set from Shabu Shabu Gen , yes they're famous for their Shabu-Shabu though. The difference between Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki, Sukiyaki is cooked with just a little amount of liquid while Shabu-Shabu is soupy that you're able to slurp the broth. Sukiyaki is much sweeter, thicker beef slices, and no soup to sip. chawanmushi First, let me start with Chawanmushi , classic Japanese appetizer, steamed egg topped with prawn, shiitake mushroom, and veggies. To bring up the appetite, a salad consists of lettuce, cherry tomato, radish, carrot, and sweet corn, tangy Japanese dressing, salty soy sauce, and my favorite sesame oil.  fresh salad Finally, the main dish, Sukiyaki. Sirloin A4 Kagoshima , melt in mouth, super tasty beefy, dipped into raw egg if you like (just like how it supposed to be), but personally I'm not into raw egg so I prefer to eat it right away. I suggest to add small amount of grated ginger, though you're not reall
