AB Steak By Chef Akira Back Jakarta: A Modern Korean-American Steak House

Image
It's unlike any other steak house, not really a Korean BBQ, AB Steak By Chef Akira Back . A new place to enjoy American steak with a touch of Korean, so how does it work? There's a grill on every table, the choice from Japanese wagyu to house-aged meat, fancy seating, it's a very unique combination. It's not too early to tell, "book your seat" - OK now let's find out the menu. Appetizers - from Steamed Bun (IDR 150.000) to Scallop Crudo (IDR 135.000), very appetizing and flavorful, while Chicken Wings (IDR 95.000) was quite nice, a little spicy, tasted very Korean though, and Amberjack Carpaccio (IDR 195.000) too salty for my palate, probably as it's served on a salt block but the citrus sauce was really good, fresh, balance out the saltiness, I think it will be great if it's served on a regular plate. Steak Tartare Steak Tartare (IDR 185.000) - not a fan of steak tartare but yes to bone marrow, roasted bone marrow topped with wagyu tartare.

Sunday Brunch: ROSSO Shangri-la Jakarta

Image
Buongiorno! How to spend weekend? Sunday Brunch sounds great, a bowl of noodles is surely comforting (does it sound very Asian?) but I'm into Italian food and having a plate of pasta instead definitely a yes. Shangri-la Jakarta is famous for its SATOO, breakfast or dinner, they have anything you want from Chinese to Indian food. But personally I turned into ROSSO for Sunday Brunch , from 11 am to 2.30 pm here you can enjoy more than just pasta, from antipasto to selection of wines.  Formaggio - when it comes to Italian food, think about cheese.. cheese pizza, cheesy pasta, even salad with cheese, I found Pecorino (sooo good) and the love-hate Gorgonzola (I'm #teamGorgonzola anyway). To start - I had salad topped with parmesan, more cheese and tomatoes on side, few slices of beef bacon, and my most favorite sauteed mushroom with artichoke. As a big fan of artichoke, pairing it with almost everything, pizza, pasta, and surely goes well with salad. Continue with risotto, fresh

Resep: NASI GILA Recipe

Image
OK so to describe in English, it's a deconstructed Indonesian Fried Rice, instead of mixing the rice with the rest of the ingredients it's served separately. Nasi Gila served with massive amount of toppings, the other version is Nasi Goreng Gila which I think it's similar to regular Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) but with more filling, egg, meatball, and hotdog are always included. I am #teamNasiGila instead of Nasi Goreng Gila what about you? Currently there are many places in Indonesia especially bigger city that sell Nasi Gila. Taman Menteng in Jakarta known for its Nasi Goreng Gila during night time. Give a try, make your own at home. Nasi Gila for 3-4 servings Ingredients : 5 pcs beef meatballs ( baso sapi ) 3 pcs hotdog ( sosis ) 1 cup cabbage, thinly sliced 1 cup choysum (caisim) aka green chinese cabbage 1/2 cup shredded fried chicken 2 eggs 2 green onion, thinly sliced 1/2 med onion, sliced 3 cloves garlic, minced 2-3 bird's eye chili (optional) 1/2 tsp white pepp

SEJIWA COFFEE BANDUNG - PROGO

Image
I spent more times in Bandung lately, doing my food video thing here. Packed - tight schedules is killing me, definitely need a break. After finishing 22 videos (yes that's a lot), we decided to go to a new coffee shop located in Jalan Progo, an area that already filled with cafes and coffee shops. Sejiwa Coffee , sounds very local though, the place is quite modern, spacious, ground for the non-smoking, upstairs for smoking. You know that I'm not a coffee person but I do drink coffee sometimes not everyday, and always go for something cold, like the Iced Creme Brulee Latte (IDR 38.000) Iced Creme Brulee Latte strawberry juice I've heard from some of my friends that the service getting worse on weekend, they waited the order for an hour but I hope it will get better. Anyway, talking about the menu, from all day breakfast to smoothie bowl, pasta to salad, we got The Megs (IDR 35.000) creamy - mayo based salad topped with feta and fried potato skin. Truffle Fries (IDR 30.00

HONU Poke & Matcha Bar - Jakarta

Image
Finally a special place for Poke in Jakarta, I think this is the start as Singapore already has several places for Poke. We're joining the hype. Poke is a typical Hawaiian dish, made from marinated (commonly) raw fish, tuna is the most popular, while vegetarian Poke is made using tofu. It goes well with salad or the famous one, with rice known as Poke Bowl. I've never had many Poke Bowl in my life but yes I've tried some and I've made it couple times. Aloha Poke in Singapore is one of them, go check out my previous post here , they have amazing Poke. To describe, Poke is simply a raw fish salad. HONU is located in Kemang, the place was quite nice, not too spacious but clean and simple. Combining Poke and Matcha, very interesting. Not many to offer on the menu, there are two options, regular and small size for the Poke Bowl. We decided to order The Skinny (IDR 50.000 / small), tuna with shoyu, salad, edamame, cucumber, seaweed, and pickled ginger, wise portion, it was
